This is a Bing and Grondahl (B&G) 'Grethe Knitting' Figurine Number 1656.

This is a blue variation of the sought-after Ingeborg Plockross Irminger (1872-1962) design in which the seated, knitting girl Grethe has a white dress with blue underglaze decoration. The painting here is very nice with delicate, subtle colors.

The figurine is a factory first, made and hand painted in Denmark in the period 1970-1983.

The figurine is lovely, serene, showing a girl seated with a downward gaze, knitting a piece of wool clothing or fabric. The figurine was designed for B&G by the legendary Irminger, and has the Danish sculptor's signature incised near the bottom of the base on the backside of the figurine (see final photo). It is a beautiful design.

The figurine is in excellent condition with no apparent issues!

The figurine stands approximately 6 3/4 inches tall.
