Antique Maritime Ship Figurehead Replica Sculpture (c. 1950s)

Bring a piece of nautical history into your collection! Offering this distinguished maritime ship figurehead sculpture, a masterful reproduction of the original, wood carved artifact from the renowned Peabody Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. Expertly crafted in resin by the acclaimed Museum Pieces Inc. of New York City during the late1950s, this sculpture is a stunning example of mid-century museum-quality artistry. It perfectly captures the spirit and intricate detail of the original seafaring artifacts collected by Salem’s historic sea captains. I have documentation from the now named Essex Museum in Salem that identifies the sculpt as being a replica of the original wood sculp (property of the Peabody Museum who purchased the piece in 1953). The bust sits on a scroll of acanthus leaves and depicts a portrait of Charles H. Lunt as a young man. The vessel The Charles H. Lunt was built in Newburyport in 1859. Captain Charles H. Lunt was born in 1826 and resided in Maine.

This piece is a true collector’s item, retaining its original foil label. This documentation confirms its status as a copyrighted reproduction from the Peabody Museum collection, ensuring both its provenance and historical connection to one of America's oldest museums.

The figure head is in good + pre-owned condition. There is overall wear to the original finish. It is made of solid resin and weighs over 2 pounds. No breaks, cracks. Presented exactly as found. Measures 7" tall x 5.25" long x 3.5" at widest point.

Authentication: Features the original foil label confirming it as a copyrighted reproduction of the Peabody Museum original. Documentation from the now Essex Museum Included.
